No. 01

The Channel Islands, large format

Waters
Southern California Bight
Position
33°55′N 119°40′W
Format
Multi-panel relief
The full Channel Islands large-format relief
Detail of the mainland shelf and submarine canyons
The relief seen at a low angle
Islands rising from the basin floor

A floor-scale survey of the Southern California Bight: the coastline, the islands, and the deep basins and ridges between them that no chart ever shows.

Built as a set of precisely joined panels, the piece reads as a single continuous seafloor. Seen at a low angle in raking light, the submarine canyons and escarpments emerge as dramatically as the island peaks above them.

Beneath the glass, a poured-resin table

Format
Furniture

Relief, cast resin, timber
Clear resin being poured over a bathymetric relief set into a timber table frame
The pour: resin flooding the relief inside its timber frame

A bathymetric relief set into a timber frame and flooded with clear resin, so that the water becomes the surface of the table itself.

Seen from above, the depths read through the glass exactly as they would from the deck of a boat on a still day, with the seafloor held in suspension beneath your hand.

No. 03

Regatta trophies, cut from the course

Format
Perpetual & keeper
For
Yacht clubs & regattas

Unique race trophies your regatta will cherish: the racecourse itself, sculpted in relief, with the start line, marks and the depths the fleet sailed over.

Made as a single perpetual trophy for the club, or as a matched set of keeper awards, each can carry the race name, year and winner in a discreet engraved plate.

How a commission worksIV
01

Conversation

Tell us the waters, the space and the occasion. A harbour you sail from, a passage you made, a course you raced.

02

Chart & scale

We define the bounds, the size and the vertical exaggeration that reveals the terrain most beautifully.

03

Proof

You review a digital render of the relief and its colour bands before anything is made.

04

Fabrication

The work is fabricated, finished by hand, and packed for safe delivery.
